Message from Peter O’Hare, Chairman of Glaven Caring.

To all Volunteers, Staff, Clients and Friends.

It is with much regret that I write to inform you that due to the current corona virus epidemic, and in accordance with Government advice, we are today closing the Glaven Centre.

Clients will no longer be brought to the centre for day-care. Tuesday and Thursday lunches have already ceased.

The Glaven will continue to be staffed so that it can function as a hub for community support.

We are happy to provide and deliver hot meals, collect and deliver prescriptions, provide shopping for those folks who are housebound and provide telephone support in any way possible.

Many of you will feel it possible to continue to support the Glaven by organising local community support groups and the facilities of the Glaven are available to help with this. I would be grateful if those of you who feel they should isolate themselves from our activities could let us know.

Let us all hope that this crisis passes speedily and without too much damage to our community.

Can I take this opportunity, on behalf of the Trustees, Management and Staff to thank everyone for their continuing support of this great charity.

Stay safe.

We Need Your Help Too!

We help ourselves as much as we can, but do rely heavily on our volunteers in all aspects of our work. Each bring their own skills to help us function as successfully as we do, from driving our bus to fundraising activities. But, we are always in need of more Volunteers.

So can you help?

First of all we need volunteers to drive the mini-bus, or act as an assistant, or to use their own cars to bring clients to the Centre. We need volunteers to help in every way in the Centre, such as helping to serve lunch. refreshments, and talking with our Clients. To help with nursing services and bathing. A few hours a month would help a lot and in-house training is given. Please contact the Centre if you can help in any way: 01263 740762.

The other way that you can help is financially, whether by donation, a gift, a bequest, a covenant or a Gift Aid payment. Our Community has been constant with support but, as services expand, costs rise and although financially sound, we will only remain so if this support continues.
